Why Shop-Rate?

***Call us to better estimate your part***

“How much does something like this cost?” Our response is ALWAYS, “We don’t give prices online of over the phone.” Please don’t be offended by that, it’s just what we tell every customer. This way we know that every customer has heard it.

We often are ask to price parts online.  We find it very difficult to give a fair quote to a part we don't have in our hands.  The same part off of two cars, same make and model, can sometimes take a very different amount of time to complete.  Also, two different customers may want a different amount of work done to there part depending on level of quality they intend for their car, or the amount of money they are willing to spend.

So, we don't want to over charge a customer for something they don't really want.  We don’t lower our quality from job to job, but sometimes a customer doesn’t want the underside of a specific part done, while another wants it to the best possible standard.  This gives the customer more control over how their part will look and cost.

Quality

We offer four general levels of metal finishing quality.  This gives the customer the opportunity to have say in what will be done to their part.

Level 1 - Basically buff the part out as it is.  Many times something that was once polished just needs to be brightened up, or to have micro-scratches removed.

Level 2 - This level varies from customer to customer and part to part, but basically this level is reserved for that situation where a good job needs to be done, nothing more or less.  Often times a customer will say, "This is only for a driver," or "I don't need it "show quality."

Level 3 - Could be explained as lower show quality.  It will look very nice, but the customer wants to place limitations on how much work and money go into this part.  Maybe the part could be replaced if this one needs a lot of work.  In general, this level would be good enough for most show cars.

SHOW QUALITY - Often, a part set at one of the other levels will still appear to have this quality, in fact, most of the work we do does.  However, if a customer tells us they want this level, we do whatever it takes to get their part to this level, regardless of time or cost.

Cost

It is reasonable for a customer to want to know the cost of work upfront, because so many companies take advantage where they can, and nobody wants to be taken advantage of.  At PolishMyParts.com we don't only want to provide the best quality possible, but we only charge for what we do.  So, as we are always willing to quote a part, it will almost always cost more than if we work it through shop rate.

MIN. SHOP RATE $40 - This includes any work up to 30 minutes.

BASIC SHOP RATE $60 - This includes most work we do polishing on.  The only time we would charge more is for a project that needs more supplies than normal (we would inform you up front).

TRIM REPAIR $60 - This includes straightening and polishing of trim.

A good way to estimate the cost of your trim is to start with $40 polishing, $2 - $4 per "minor" dent or scratch, then there would be a more for any of the major dings, bends or areas needing welding.  This isn't a way to quote the part, but might help you find the (possibly above) average cost to fix this piece of trim.

Other Factors

It is always our intention to give the customer the most bang for their buck, there are a few considerations to be had when working metal.

There are many factors that can determine the level of quality a part can achieve, or the amount of work it may need to get there.  It is important for the customer to understand that the higher the desired quality will likely increase the cost of work, but also the chance of problems occurring, especially on thin parts like trim.

Also, when a part starts out damaged the chance of it becoming more damaged increases with the amount of work we do to it.  So, there maybe times when a customer tries to salvage a piece of trim that is dent and/or tore, because it is unlikely to be replaced with a better piece.  We are willing to work on these difficult pieces, but don't take responsibility for them.  We do our best, and usually have very good success, but sometimes the customer can save money by buying a better part and might get better quality at a lower cost.
